Maria Hartwell - MSW LGSW

I believe effective therapy begins with feeling seen, heard, and accepted. For more than 20 years, I've worked alongside adolescents and young adults, helping them navigate life's challenges with compassion, curiosity, and practical support. I primarily work with individuals ages 14–25, and also welcome adults coming to terms with childhood trauma, living with shame, or navigating life after incarceration.

My experience includes supporting Indigenous, Black, Latino, LGBTQ+, children of immigrants, unhoused, and system-impacted individuals. I recognize that your mental health is shaped by your relationships, culture, family, and lived experiences.

My approach integrates psychodynamic, person-centered, trauma-informed, restorative, DBT, CBT, and harm reduction practices. I also use approaches that honor each person's cultural identity and lived experiences recognizing that healing looks different for everyone.

I work with anxiety, depression, childhood and family trauma, bullying, grief and loss, identity exploration, family conflict, self-harm, involvement with the justice system, sexual trauma, and the early signs of psychosis and personality disorders.

You do not need to be “fixed.” You are not broken. I will walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and collaboration. Let’s compare tattoos, talk about comfort food, and feel better together.
